Planting trees for locally extinct and endangered species will be the aim of a Community Planting Day on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.
On Sunday, July 28, 2024, between 10:00am and 2:30pm, the Mornington Peninsula community is encouraged to gather at the new sanctuary expansion area at The Briars, 450 Nepean Highway, Mount Martha, 3934 to join a tree planting day.
The free event aims at planting trees to expand native vegetation across the site to provide habitat for precious wildlife, as well as help protect soils and draw carbon from the atmosphere.
It’s a family-friendly event, and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
Registrations are essential, and participants are reminded to bring a water bottle and choose weather-appropriate clothing. Long pants, long-sleeved shirt, a hat and sturdy shoes are recommended, and pets should be left at home.
