The Key Apprenticeship Program Employer Incentive payment will be introduced to acknowledge employers’ role in training skilled workers. This funding supports the shared responsibility of employers, apprentices, and government in developing a workforce to meet clean energy and housing targets.

Who is eligible?

Employers of apprentices working in Key Apprenticeship Programs (KAP) occupations are eligible, including:
* AHC30824 Certificate III in Arboriculture;
* AHC50524 Diploma of Arboriculture; and
* AHC60524 Advanced Diploma of Arboriculture.

The incentive payments of up to $5,000 will be paid in two installments during the first year of the apprenticeship.

Apprentices training in occupations listed on the Australian Apprenticeship Priority List (excluding KAP occupations) can be considered.

From January 1, 2026 to December  31, 2026, the government will continue to provide robust support for apprenticeships as part of its broader plan to deliver a Future Made in Australia, meet the net zero targets, and build 1.2 million homes by 2029. These initiatives aim to create jobs and secure Australia’s future.
