Performance Access, which provides top-tier equipment rentals in Sydney and the surrounding areas, has taken delivery of the first Genie S-80 J TraX™ boom lift in Australia.
The S-80 J TraX is the first and only tracked boom in its height class, offering arborists and tree-care service companies a new solution for tree inspections and trimming with the added benefit of reducing ground pressures on sensitive terrain.
In urban spaces, the Genie S-80 might be useful for accessing tree canopies that are surrounded by buildings or in any location where climbing heights are restricted. Performance Access chose to add the S-80 J TraX boom to its fleet because of the machine’s versatility for a variety of industries and applications, the machine’s total cost of ownership, and Genie’s reputation for quality.
“The S-80 TraX will integrate seamlessly into our fleet, enabling our clients to access and work in areas that were previously unreachable due to inadequate hardstand conditions,” said Performance Access General Manager Rocco Perugini. “Its maximum working height and platform capability also were significant factors in our decision.”
The S-80 TraX delivers a maximum working height of 26.51m and a max platform capacity of 300kg. It also reduces contact pressure by an average of 72% over standard tyre options. This is due to the tracks’ broader weight distribution, making it ideal for operation on sand and turf, or in muddy terrain without placing mats or cribbing to support the machine’s weight.
Four independent tracks swivel vertically up to 20°, creating a smooth ride on rough ground conditions—another important feature for Performance Access.
“The boom’s tracked undercarriage provides excellent stability on uneven terrain,” Perugini said. “Built to withstand harsh working conditions, it ensures long service life and reliability, even in demanding environments. Additionally, the ergonomic design of the controls and platform provides comfort for the operator during extended use.”
The S-80 TraX is based on the design of the Genie S-80 J boom lift, which offers a simplified design that reduces wearable and replaceable parts. The TraX system also contains 50% fewer serviceable parts compared with other tracks systems on the market, which further reduces the time and expense related to maintenance. Additionally, for equipment owners with multiple TraX machines in their fleet, aside from the rubber track and the frame, all parts are common between the small and large TraX systems, reducing parts inventory requirements for rental companies.
“At Performance Access, safety and quality are paramount. Our well-maintained fleet of equipment is sourced from trusted manufacturers, guaranteeing optimal performance and reliability,” Perugini said. “We chose a Genie boom because Genie is known for producing high-quality aerial work platforms and is a trusted name in the industry.”
