The Caterpillar FM528, a dedicated and purpose-built forestry machine, is built for working in the bush.
The Caterpillar FM528, whether configured as Log Loader (LL), or General Forestry (GF), can be used for truck loading, sorting, mulching, processing and land clearing. For mulching requirements, the FM528 can be paired with the Cat HM2615 Forestry Mulcher.
More flexibility
A first-ever feature on Caterpillar’s forestry machines, the FM528 provides a hydraulic blade fitted to the undercarriage, allowing operators to push dirt during road building, and provides an anchor while working on steep slopes.
The FM528, when configured as a Log Loader, features a 360-degree rotating head and live heel for loading on challenging terrain.
Powerful and efficient
Powered by a 129kW (173hp) Cat C4.4e TTA diesel engine, the FM528’s electrohydraulic system ensures smooth and precise operation, while the engine works at low RPMs, reducing wear and tear and helping to lower maintenance costs.
Being purpose-built means this dedicated forestry machine is designed for forestry applications from the ground up. It may appear similar to an excavator from a distance, but it’s vastly different.
A high and long undercarriage with heavy duty guards, cab riser, forestry cab, higher swing torque, and added component protection are built into the machine at the factory, providing a ready-to-go solution for customers.
Lower maintenance costs
Caterpillar has designed the FM528 to share common parts and service requirements with its Next Generation excavators, ensuring ready availability of replacement parts and helping reduce downtime.
