Barton Allen-Hall: 2024 ITCC world champion

Barton Allen-Hall. Winner of the 2024 ITCC Masters

Barton Allen-Hall from Arboriculture Australia and Stephanie Dryfhout from the New Zealand Arboriculture Association won the ISA 2024 International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC) in October at Daffin Park in Savannah, Georgia, US.

The 2024 ITCC, a three-day event fielded 94 competitors from different countries, and the Masters’ Challenge included five competitors, both male and female, which underlines the growing acceptance of tree climbing.

Barton Allen-Hall made history by winning the ITCC for the third time, a truly remarkable achievement.

“I can’t believe it, to be honest,” he told Climber’s Edge, the International Society of Arboriculture website. “I earned it, but in some ways, I feel like I don’t deserve it. The guys that have done that have always been my idols.”

The Australian Arbor Age will have Allen Barton-Hall’s story from the competition in the December 2024/January 2025 issue.
